HIDE AND SEEK GAMES
Back to Bunaboom Zoo Games
Here are two variations of the classic game of Hide and Seek, but with a new twist!
WHAT YOU NEED:
-
A space to play that has a lot of good hiding places
HIDING GAME 1: Hide and Seek Jail
Find a nice safe space to play. Make sure all of the players know the boundaries so they know where they are and not allowed to go during the game. If you are playing in a very large public outdoor area, such as a park or a forest, there should be an adult with you to help.

Select an area to be the JAIL and a player to go first. That player starts at the jail, closes their eyes, and counts to 50 while all of the other players go hide. When you find a player, you call out their name and their hiding spot. That player has to go to the jail while you look for the other players.

If one of the hiding players can sneak over to the jail and tag you, you are free to leave the jail and hide again! But be careful. If the spotter sees you can calls your name you will be in jail too!
HIDING GAME 2: Sardines
Find a nice safe space to play. Make sure all of the players know the boundaries so they know where they are and not allowed to go during the game. If you are playing in a very large public outdoor area, such as a park or a forest, there should be an adult with you to help.

Select only one player to hide. That player goes to hide while ALL other players close their eyes while someone counts to 50. Everyone then splits up to go find the player who is hiding.

When you find the person (or people) hiding you must be quiet and hide with them in the same spot! Everyone continues to look for the group until the last person finds everyone hiding in the same place!

The more people that are playing the harder the game gets. If you hide behind a tree, and someone finds you, now there are two people hiding behind the same tree. After several more find you, there might be a whole bunch of people trying to hide behind the same tree!

That is why the game is called Sardines. Sardines are tiny little fish and as food they are packed up together and stuffed in a can together. It is a common phrase to say "we are packed like sardines" when a bunch of people are all trying to fit in one small space together.
